“My name is Ashton Owens. I am 22. I am married to the love of my life; Kailey. We have the coolest son in the world; Sawyer “MJ” Owens. We live in Joplin, mo. I run a clothing company called Hello Destroyers and I am a public speaker. I was first introduced to pornography when I was 12 by a friend who told me that if I didn’t look at it I wasn’t “a man”. This wasn’t something that was really talked about and so I continued my destructive road for several years. My dad sat me down and discussed with me the dangers and issues that pornography would give me down the road when I was 15. When I was 17 my dad was killed in an RV accident while on our family vacation. From that I turned to pornography for comfort. It quickly turned into my vice. My wife and I started dating and unfortunately, it had consumed me for so long that I brought it into our marriage. When I confronted my wife about my addiction she gave me an ultimatum; her or the porn. Together we started fighting against my addiction to save our family. In September of 2010 Kailey and I went on the Dr. Phil show to discuss what porn in the marriage looked like and how destructive it was. We also had the opportunity to discuss with a couple who made porn videos for a living. We were able to share our story and tell them what they were doing to young men and couples all over the world. From there God gave us the ability to speak about this issue openly in schools and churches. We hope, with XXX Church’s help to help this next generation have victory over an addiction that has crippled our own generation. I live every day for the glory of God. I am simply a sinner saved by grace sharing my story.”
