Every week I receive emails from people who are confessing their need for help. Porn has grabbed a hold of their life and they are drowning in guilt and shame. I hate these emails. I hate to see people hurting and struggling through such a devastating issue. I love freedom. I love to see people winning in this battle.

However, it feels like more people are struggling everyday and no one is...

He kisses his wife goodbye for the weekend and jumps in his car. John is spending the weekend away from his family and his church for the first time in
years. As soon as he leaves the city limits something clicks in his brain that screams, “I am free. I can do whatever I want. I don’t have to be the guy who is always carrying everyone else’s burdens. I don’t have to be John the Pastor. I don’t...

In his book Boundaries, Henry Cloud says “If you don’t create boundaries for yourself someone will create them for you.” I have always thought about this when struggling to make healthy boundaries in every area of my life. If I am not going to be proactive and set some healthy boundaries in my job, hobbies, time management, television watching, and the list goes on – then someone will set them...

Everyone’s romantic in his or her own way. It is also true that some people have serious impediments to expressing love in a passionate and starry-eyed way. When you struggle expressing your love romantically, occasions like Valentine’s Day can become very daunting and produce large amounts of pressure. When we are in a relationship there will always be some degree of romantic pressure. This...

When you see creation through God’s eyes true beauty is revealed. One of the problems with pornography is it distorts everything you see. Pornography transforms beauty God-honoring women into objects to be used for personal gratification. Instead of seeing a woman as loved by God, as a child of God, we see a woman that may please our perceived sexual needs. What seems crystal clear to our...

Before you read this blog you should know something about me. I am not a professional counselor. I am a Pastor who has done plenty of counseling. Some of the counseling  I was unqualified to do and should never have attempted! I do not love doing counseling but I do love to help people. Encouraging people with God's truths and helping them believe that the best of life is possible - this is...

One of my close friends called me a few weeks ago and asked, "Is it okay for my wife to read 50 Shades of Grey?" This is a very common question today among many people. My friend commented, "There are no pictures in the book and maybe it will actually help our sex life." I promise you he is not the only man to think this book could become a marital aid. The problem with an erotic book is that...

The Church Finds Out an Elder Is Viewing Porn?

Confronting sin in a biblical way may just be the greatest weakness of the church. People either hate conflict and therefore avoid it at all costs or they seem to get a high watching other people struggle. The biblical perspective on confrontation is more about loving people then about being right. Marriages fall apart because the husband and/or...

Pool, water park, beach, jacuzzi at the gym or whatever - we have to be prepared to fight the temptation! If you are struggling with unhealthy sexual behaviors you have to be prepared in advance to win. Heading to a public pool without the proper tools in your tool belt is planning to fail. Here's a few thoughts I shared in our online church service.

1.       Don't go ALONE

Don't enter an...
