Shellie R. Warren
Shellie R. Warren is into all things covenant. Her first love of writing has afforded her the opportunity to write for well over 50 publications including the recent book release, "Purity's Big Payoff/Premarital Sex Is a Big Rip-off". Shellie has authored two published books: "Inside of Me: Lessons of Lust, Love and Redemption" ('04) and "Pure Heart: A Woman's Guide to Sexual Integrity" ('10). She is also the teen mom director for the local chapter of a national non-profit in Nashville, a premarital/marriage counselor and a doula. Shellie also has an online ministry. http://onfirefastmovement.blogspot.com/ is for single women who desire to be prepared for marital covenant. She recently developed a T-shirt line (PerezLinen) centering around these themes and is in the process of premiering "Reluctant Celebrities"---a (somewhat) atypical platform for modern-day discipleship.

So here's the deal...
Being that the theme of this month is focusing on sex and the media, I had a few videos that I wanted to show about the exploitation of women. Yet, ironically, while they showed ads that in are everyday non-wrapped-up-in-plastic magazines, I still didn't want to make the super conservative visitors uncomfortable so I decided to go with this one instead. It's entitled, "...
So...
I'm currently doing a little bit of a project on "On Fire" about what married women would do over as a single woman knowing what they know now...um, as a married woman. There are some *really enlightening* bits of information coming forth. For example, this one below is from RPS that I haven't posted onto the blog site yet:
1) Discuss, I mean REALLY discuss religion before you walk down...
There's a website...
That I enjoy checking out, pretty much on a monthly basis. It's called Vigilant Citizen and one of the things that initially drew me to it was it's tag line: "Symbols Rule the World, Not Words Nor Laws". Basically it's a site that devotes its time to seeking out subliminal (and not so subliminal) messages in our culture from government to monuments and especially when it...
OK...
It's a play on words...just a bit...but it does hold some credence. I mean, other than Adam and the Woman in the Garden (Genesis 2:24-25), if you read about nakedness and it's references in the Bible, it's usually speaking of sin or the consequences of sin or some level of humiliation (Genesis 3:7-10; Ezekiel 16; Hosea 2:3, just to name a few). And, when there is a loving reference used in...
Sometimes cheesy teenager sitcoms make *really valid points*...
I recall watching an old episode of "One Tree Hill" where a girl's significant other was caught watching porn (she looked through his history). When she said, "Great, it's bad enough that I have to watch out for all of these girls that throw it at you at school, now I've got to compete with porn stars?", to which he retorted,...
Shellie here: From time to time, aside from the guest feature bloggers that we have on our roster, I'll "enlist" someone from my world that I know has something to share; maybe not on a regular basis, but what they have to say is profound enough, that they are definitely deserving of a platform.
THIS WOULD BE ONE OF THOSE TIMES.
This woman is a Christian and loves the Lord. Yet she battles....
You know...
It's always baffled my mind, some of the destructive things that are considered to be ridiculous for a child to do...but OK for adults:
Getting drunk
Dressing immodestly
Being sexually active (outside of marriage)
WATCHING PORN
I thought about this as I read a story yesterday about a man who *accidentally* played some porn for the kiddies at a children's birthday party. He...
Yesterday...
I received an email from one of the women who reads the "On Fire" blog. Honestly? This weekend has been such a whirlwind of news that initially I was like, "I'll get to it later" because just all of the stories on Whitney Houston alone (sigh), I found myself in a bit of information overload. I'm glad that the Comforter (John 14:16) had something else in mind. He gently nudged me...
So...
I read an article earlier today from "The Guardian" (a publication in the UK) that stated this:
"...While it's accepted that women are watching – and enjoying – porn more and more, it's less recognised that some are also finding it hard to stop. At Quit Porn Addiction, the UK's main porn counselling service, almost one in three clients are women struggling with their own porn use, says...
So...yeah.
In perusing one of my weekly regulars, I saw an article today entitled, "Why Do Men Love 'Barely Legal' Porn?" And you know what? Even with as hard of a thinker as I am, until reading about how the most sought after porn was the "barely legal teens" category, I must admit that as much as I deal with this subject matter, *I never ever thought about it*. In my porn days, I gravitated...
