When a person breaks free from porn, he usually undergoes some radical life changes. Through the first steps of spiritual growth and self-denial, he gets rid of the large, obvious sins. But sad to say, many people stop there. We don’t go on to eliminate the little sins that clutter the landscape of our lives.
Here is a story I once heard in a sermon that may put a little perspective on it. “Some years ago, a couple bought the old abandon farm. They then found the site where they wished to build their country home strewn with rocks and boulders. It was going to take a lot of hard work to clear it all out.The first phase of the clearing process was easy. The big boulders went fast. And when they were gone, the couple began to see that there were a lot of smaller rocks that had to go too. But when they had cleared the site of the boulders and the rocks,they noticed all of the stones and pebbles they had not seen before. This was much harder, more tedious work. But they stuck to it, and there came the day when the soil was ready to begin building their home.
For some of you I know this seems hard. But there is some great news, Jesus said this “For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” How great is that? It doesn’t take much faith to trust in the Lord that he will help move these mountains of lust, desire and guilt from our lives and help us on our path to recovery. My prayer this week is that you are able to “get the rocks off” in your life and that you are able to find peace and hope that you are looking for.
