Is there a child porn
explosion happening?
There are over 100,000 websites dedicated to child porn. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry. Over the past 13 years the number of child pornography offenders has increased by 1,500%. Do you think the Internet has anything to do with that increase? I do. And while I was doing research on this issue I found a ton of news articles
on child porn arrests that were published in just the last 3 days. Here are some of them:

-Gray woman pleads guilty
to child porn charges (April 4, 2009)

-Drexel Hill woman gets 30
years in child porn case (April 2, 2009)

-Field hockey coach gets
40 years for child porn (April 2, 2009)

-Issaquah woman sentenced
in child porn case (April 3, 2009)

-Glouco dispatcher charged
with child porn (April 3, 2009)

-Oregon man gets 17.5
years in child porn case (April 3, 2009)

-Acton man convicted of
child porn possession (April 3, 2009)

Children as young as 10 months old were used in
some of the child porn videos
discussed above. That’s disturbing and heart breaking. If child porn was given its
proper title, “child rape”, maybe it would happen less. The stigma that used to
be associated with the word “Porn” is being lost. But the word “rape” hasn’t
lost its stigma. Sex with children is never consensual, it’s rape.
Child rape.

People
that get into watching child rape
often stumbled into it while viewing other Internet porn. And, as tends
to happen with porn, it often takes more deviant forms of porn to give people
the same adrenaline rush. For some watching child rape fits the bill. It’s a
sad progression and it’s one that’s not limited to men. Look at the articles
above and you’ll see 3 of them involve women.

So what does this mean for
parents?
If your children gets into Internet porn there’s a good chance
they’ll run into child porn. That’s shocking in itself but how will they react
to it. Could they possibly get hooked on it like others have? Will they grow up
to be potential pedophiles? Will we read about their arrest in the newspaper?
If those thoughts don’t get you to do everything you can to protect your
children from Internet porn then I don’t know what will.
