Masturbation Addiction

Hi, How long do I have to sustain from masturbating to pornography or chronic masturbation to not be considered an addict? Thank you for your help. TM

Hey Trey,

I don’t think there is a specific answer that can be given for this question that would be the answer across the board for everyone.  I think that it really comes down to lifestyle.  In other words– all of us will fall short and have sin in our life.  What you want to avoid is having a lifestyle of sin (habitual) in your life.    I think if you’ve been a porn addict that it is going to take some time to reprogram your mind and allow God to cleanse your heart.   Enjoy the journey though– don’t make it a white knuckle existence.  God is doing something in every moment!

Best wishes!

Is it a good idea for me to take on the resposibilities of a leader???

To be straight forward, I am a porn addict who struggles with chronic masturbation I am. within the past 24 hours I have discovered this site and I have come to the conclusion that I need to seriously seek help my motivation being that I want to further my relationship with Christ, as my porn addiction has been the major barrier stopping me from doing so. Today I set up an accountability system with friends who I have told about my problem and I am downloading the accountability app provided here. The reason I am submitting this query is because I am heavily involved with an evangelistic Christian organization “called ‘campus crusade for Christ’ on the campus that I have been studying at, which is desperately in need of leadership as all of our staff have left. I have given my word that I will become a Committed Student Leader in the coming semester which starts next week, but I am now starting to have my doubts as to whether this is a good idea, given that one of my responsibilities will to be a reliable role model and to provide an example to students of what it means to be a Man who loves God. yet I am anything but a worthy example of Godly manhood as I am still seriously struggling with pornography. I Don’t know what the best course of action would be, if i turn down this position of leadership there is nobody to fill the gap that I’m leaving open. I have spoken to people I trust and they have told me that it is up to me and I’m probably over thinking it, but I honestly don’t know what to do. I have prayed about it all month and I still have no idea. My question is what would be the wisest course of action? thank you for reading. God bless.

Hey George!

No one is free from sin but it is a lifestyle of sin that we want to avoid.

With regards to whether or not you should lead.  It is our opinion that you can only lead others as far as you’ve come and if you haven’t conquered this then it will be futile for you to try to lead others in living a morally pure lifestyle.   Now– that doesn’t mean that God can’t use you but I do think you need to be totally honest with your leadership at CC.

It really should be up to them as to if they feel you can lead in the capacity to which they are asking of you.  Perhaps they can also provide the type of accountability that you need.

Lastly– Pure Life Ministries offers counseling phone calls with their biblical counselors.  You might want to look them up!

Iphone use/pornography

Hello, Recently I have been struggling with pornography and downloaded X3 watch for my macbook and iphone. I realized that I can download other web browsers or apps to view pornography even though I have x3 watch on my iphone. Is there anything I can do to block the other apps (or web browsers) from being downloaded? Thanks

At this time this will not be able to happen, Apple has a huge issue with privacy that they will not allow it. We keep working to make this an option.

Right now Android alows us the best option with the mobil set up.
