lust

i got two weeks no porn or masturbation and i fall and crumble and go three straight days. Yet how does god even love me? I have a girl friend and we try to stay sexually pure, right now we are not kissing for 5 months, but does that just make it worse? I feel like since a girlfriend i lust more. how do i stop? it hurts so much.

You need accountability and support to overcome these issues. Talk to someone close to you who you respect who can keep you accountable, encourage, support and help you. It’s way to hard to do alone. Also, download x3watch – our FREE accountability software. You put in accountability partner email address(es) and they get a report with any questionable sites you view. This helps them help you and encourages you not to look. Ask that they would also keep you accountable with masturbation and help you overcome. Also, set boundaries. Do not use the computer alone, do not be alone with your girlfriend, etc. Be wise about what makes you tempted and set boundaries to avoid those situations.

Having a girlfriend can make it harder. It just depends. It is great you are seeking to be pure. You will have easy and hard times. Sometimes you will feel more tempted than others. Get accountability with this as well. Be careful not to be in tempting situations that you cannot handle. Ask for wisdom from those around you who have been where you are.

It takes discipline, support and effort to overcome. Once you separate yourself from the temptations you will be able to gain strength. If it is always at your finger tips it can be overwhelming. Check out the resources on the site to for more ways to work towards purity.

Why should God care?

I have recently gotten, i think, addicted to porn. I was once a strong christian, but now porn as has pulled me away from God. I need to get away from it. I also masturbate more recently now. This whole problem began 2 years ago. Im very down on myself and i feel like i have let down my parents. I don’t think God even cares, i mean why should he. I ask for forgiveness then i just go watch porn. Please help me, I need prayer, I really want to be close to God agian.

Preston,

First, confess to God where you are at. Everything, the big and little stuff. He forgives you. Your heart must be ready for change. Go to him and prayer and get in the scriptures.
You must get accountability in your life. You need to tell someone about all of this. Someone you trust such as a pastor, close friend, or youth leader. Someone who is going to make you own your decision to change and call you out when you stumble. This is hard, but you must do it.
Then take practical steps in your life to clean it up. Get X3watch on your computer and have the reports sent to your accountability partner. I understand your fear in getting this but I suggest you tell your parents or someone close to you about your struggle. This is hard but they can be great accountability. If you cannot get the software because of all your siblings, maybe you need a filter like Safe Eyes. See the trial below.  You must tackle your struggle head on by changing things in your life, do not get on the computer at times when your feel tempted, identify patterns in your life, possibly get rid of the computer, stop being alone with girls. Since there are so many people in your house I am sure it is hard to find alone time with the computer. Set boundaries to not go on the computer when you are alone. Get help with that. Tackle it all head on, wherever you are at. This stuff is not worth it! These steps can be hard but it takes big commitemment to overcome this.

We know this is a very discouraging struggle. Know that God’s Grace is more amazing that we will ever know. He forgives you when you ask and wants to help cleanse and heal you and help you live the life he intends for you. Ask for help in how to honor him and grow closer to him. He will reveal himself to you. Ask for forgiveness, seek him and take the important discipline steps to overcome. Get support, pray and seek out resources like books and the confessions on our site for encouragement.
Let us know if we can be of any more help. Know that you are not alone in this struggle and how you feel!

Tyler,

I am sorry to hear of your struggle. Know that you are not the only one. This is common as well.

Here are the steps to overcome porn in general (Which even apply to homosexual porn).

Get support as you try to over come this  I know this kind of porn probably makes you feel more shameful but know that you are not alone and support is crucial. You may want to see X3Pure.com as well for an intensive healing program. You may also want to check local resources for counselors since you have been struggling and addicted for so many years. Don’t be afraid to get the help you need to get back to a healthy and pure view on sex, relationships and intimacy.
