In America, sex is an obsession, in other parts of the world, it’s a fact. – Marlene Dietrich

Would you agree that sex has become an obsession in America? When my parents were children sex was never talked about. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, stars of I Love Lucy slept in separate beds never making mention of sex. In fact all the shows on TV were rated G in terms of sexual conduct.

That’s definitely not true for today’s television. Even if I do find a television show that’s appropriate to watch the commercials in between segments are enough to make me blush! How did we as a society transition from the days of I Love Lucy to fast food commercials using ½ naked women laying on the beach to sell a product. Marlene Dietrich got it right when she said, “In America, sex is an obsession, in other parts of the world, it’s a fact.” I think it’s fair to say that most Americans have a “me me me” attitude. Do what makes you feel good, do what makes you happy and that includes having sex with whom ever, wherever you like.

Sex has become an item that Americans idolize. Scripture tells we can’t serve two masters, we will love one and hate the other. We can’t serve both God and sex. Where we spend our time, there are our hearts. Where is your heart at? Are you obsessed with sex? What changes can be made in your life today to get back to where sex is not just an obsession but  joyful part of life?
