What does the Bible say about Sex Toys? When I first started looking at this question I was sure that the Bible hadn’t said anything about sex toys but as I prayed and thought about it more God revealed to me that, that was not the case. Sure it is not outlined with clear bold headings, but He does make a point to set up guidelines concerning the topic of sex like Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians. . .

We are not to cause destruction to the temple that God gave us, and in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”

In 1 Corinthians 6:18 Paul tells us of how sexual sin is unlike any other sin —

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” (ESV)

If sex toys are not used between one man and one woman in the bounds of marriage then the sex toys are just aiding in sexual sin. Sex is meant to be a form of worship. Masturbation is like trying to un-wrap your gifts before Christmas, it’s selfish and trying to please your desires.  It’s about going for what you want in the moment but not looking at the bigger picture.   Furthermore, even if sex toys are used in the bounds of marriage they can still be wrong, for Paul goes on and tells us that our bodies are a temple in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20…

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

On the cross Christ paid the price for us and God calls us to glorify Him in our bodies; when it all boils down, that’s the main point — glorifying God in everything we do. Check your motives and your actions and if you can honestly glorify God in using sex toys then go for it! J
